Interns collect certificates the way employees collect payslips: colleges demand them for credit, placement cells verify them, and the intern's first job interview will ask what the project was. A good internship certificate names the intern, the role, the exact dates, the project or area of work, and who supervised it — on letterhead, signed. This maker formats internship and training completion certificates for companies, startups, CA firms, hospitals, NGOs and colleges, with a project title, skills, a performance line and a verification number, exported as PDF or PNG from your browser.
What a college or employer expects to see
| Field | Why |
|---|---|
| Organisation name, logo, address, registration or CIN | Verifies the issuer exists |
| Certificate number and date of issue | Placement cells cross-check by number |
| Intern's full name, college and programme | Matches the college's records |
| Role or department | "Marketing intern", "Articled assistant", "Software development trainee" |
| Period with start and end dates, and total duration | "2 June 2026 to 29 August 2026 (13 weeks)" |
| Project title and 1–2 line description | The most useful sentence for the intern |
| Skills or tools used | Optional: "Python, Power BI, GST return preparation" |
| Performance line | "completed the internship satisfactorily" or a stronger statement if earned |
| Stipend statement (optional) | "This was a paid internship" — needed by some universities |
| Signatory | Supervisor or HR head, with designation and signature |
How to use the maker
- Enter your organisation profile once; it is saved locally for future certificates.
- Fill in the intern's details, the role, the dates (the tool computes weeks and months), the project title and skills.
- Choose the performance wording — three graded templates — and add a stipend line if applicable.
- Pick a layout (portrait A4 letter-style or landscape certificate-style) and your brand colour.
- Download PDF; sign digitally with an image from the digital signature maker or print and sign. Batch mode generates certificates for a list of interns.
Rules worth knowing
- Stipend and tax: stipends are generally taxable as salary or "income from other sources"; TDS applies only if the amount crosses the basic exemption limit. Many companies pay stipends through payroll — the team payroll calculator handles part-month pro-rating.
- Apprentices vs interns: apprentices under the Apprentices Act have a prescribed minimum stipend and a registered contract; ordinary interns do not, but paying a fair stipend is expected by top colleges.
- Letters for AICTE/NEP internships: universities may require the certificate to state hours completed and a mentor's contact — the template includes both fields.
- Working hours and safety rules of the Shops and Establishments Act apply to interns as to staff.
- If the intern joins full-time later, issue a separate experience letter for the employment period.
Making the certificate useful for the intern
- Name the project, not just the department. "Built a GST reconciliation sheet used by the accounts team" beats "worked in finance".
- List tools honestly; recruiters test them.
- Include the mentor's designation and a way to verify — email on the letterhead, or a QR from the URL QR generator pointing to a verification page.
- Send a PDF and a printed copy; colleges still file paper.
