A product title that Amazon truncates at 200 characters, a meta description Google cuts at 155, an SMS that becomes two messages at 161 characters, a WhatsApp template rejected for length, an Instagram bio limited to 150 — business writing runs into limits everywhere. This counter shows words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences, paragraphs and reading time as you type or paste, checks the text against the limits of the platform you choose, and flags overuse of any word. Text stays in your browser.
Limits you will hit
| Where | Limit |
|---|---|
| Google title tag | ~60 characters visible (pixel-based); meta description ~155 |
| Amazon product title | 200 characters (many categories recommend 80); bullet points 500 each |
| Flipkart title | 100 characters typical |
| Instagram caption | 2,200 characters; first 125 shown before "more"; bio 150 |
| Facebook post | 63,206, but 40–80 characters get the most engagement |
| X post | 280 characters |
| LinkedIn post | 3,000 characters; first 210 shown |
| SMS | 160 GSM characters (70 if Unicode/Hindi); longer texts split into segments |
| WhatsApp template | 1,024 characters body; header 60; buttons 25 |
| Google Business Profile post | 1,500 characters; description 750 |
| ASCI / product label claims | No fixed count, but "substantiable" — keep claims short |
The meta tag generator and SERP preview handle Google's pixel-based truncation precisely; this counter gives the quick check.
How to use the counter
- Paste or type the text.
- Read words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and estimated reading time (at 200 words per minute) and speaking time.
- Pick a platform preset to see remaining characters and, for SMS, the number of segments.
- Open keyword density to see the most frequent words — useful for product descriptions that repeat "premium" six times.
- Use the case and whitespace tools (trim, sentence case, remove double spaces) before copying.
Writing for limits
- Front-load: the first 60–125 characters carry the message on every platform.
- One idea per sentence; product descriptions read best at 12–18 words a sentence.
- Replace adjectives with facts: "100% cotton, 180 gsm, pre-shrunk" beats "premium quality".
- For SMS in Hindi or Hinglish with Devanagari, the limit drops to 70 characters per segment; write in Roman script if cost matters.
- Draft captions with the social media post generator and check them here.
Reading time and documents
Reading time helps size blog posts, privacy policies and terms. A privacy policy of 1,200 words is a six-minute read — long enough to be complete, short enough to be read. For legal pages, the DPDP Rules expect notices to be clear and in plain language; length is not a virtue.
For the pages where length and clarity matter most — policies and notices — the DPDP expectations are summarised in DPDP Rules 2025, and for search snippets the local-SEO playbook is in Google AI Mode and local SEO.
