Homestays, guest houses, boutique hotels, farm stays and small travel agencies confirm bookings on WhatsApp — and then argue about check-in times, what was included, and whether the advance was ₹3,000 or ₹5,000. A booking voucher settles it: guest names, dates, room type, rate, meal plan, amount paid, balance due, cancellation terms and directions, on one page with your branding. This generator builds that voucher (and, at checkout, the stay receipt) for your own property or agency, exports it as a PDF, and includes a UPI QR for the balance. It is not for reproducing any hotel chain's or OTA's documents.
Voucher vs invoice vs receipt
- Booking voucher / confirmation: issued when the booking is made — what is reserved, for whom, at what rate, and the payment status. Not a tax document.
- Tax invoice: issued at checkout for the stay and extras, with GST. Use the GST invoice generator or the built-in invoice mode.
- Receipt: proof of each payment — the advance on booking, the balance at check-in. The payment receipt tool handles this, or use the voucher's receipt section.
Agencies issuing vouchers on behalf of a hotel should show the hotel's confirmation number and their own agency reference separately.
GST on hotel rooms in 2026
Since the September 2025 rate rationalisation, hotel accommodation is taxed by tariff per room-night: 5% without input tax credit for rooms up to ₹7,500, and 18% with ITC above ₹7,500. The rate is decided by the actual charged tariff, not the rack rate. Restaurants inside hotels follow the hotel's tariff band — 18% with ITC if any room is above ₹7,500, else 5% without ITC. Homestays below the ₹20 lakh registration threshold need not charge GST at all but must not print "GST" on the voucher. Registration thresholds and invoice formats are covered in GST registration online in 2026.

How to use the generator
- Set up your property profile once: logo, address, contact, GSTIN, standard policies. It is remembered in your browser.
- Enter the guest and the stay dates; the tool counts nights and computes the room total.
- Add meal plan and extras, then the advance received. GST is applied by tariff band if you are registered.
- Download the voucher PDF and send it on WhatsApp with the UPI QR for the balance.
- At checkout, switch to receipt / invoice mode to issue the final document with the same booking number.
Practical tips for small properties
- State check-in and check-out times (e.g. 1 pm / 11 am) and early check-in charges on the voucher; it ends 80% of arrival disputes.
- Cancellation policy in plain words: "Free cancellation up to 7 days before check-in; 50% of advance thereafter."
- Collect ID at check-in (mandatory under state police rules; foreign guests need Form C) but never print ID numbers on documents you send by WhatsApp.
- Ask for a review at checkout with the Google review request builder — direct bookings grow from reviews.
- Refund policy on your website with the refund policy generator so OTA and direct guests see the same terms.
