Community screenings, college film festivals, private-hall bookings, corporate movie nights, and birthday parties at a home theatre all need a ticket that looks and feels like the real thing: film title, screen, row and seat, showtime, price, and a tear-off stub. This tool designs a cinema-style ticket slip for your own event, with numbered seats, a decorative barcode or a real QR for entry, and exports it as PNG or a print-ready PDF sheet. It is a template for events you organise — it does not connect to any cinema chain's booking system and must not be used to imitate a real cinema's tickets.
Who uses it
- Film clubs and college fests running licensed screenings.
- Housing societies and schools hosting movie nights in the clubhouse.
- Cafés and micro-theatres that rent a private screen by the show.
- Marketing teams making "premiere" invitations for product launches.
- Teachers and designers who need a realistic ticket for a lesson or a mockup.
Screening rights: the part people forget
Showing a film to the public — even free, even in a society clubhouse — requires a public performance licence from the rights holder or a licensing body; home-viewing DVDs and streaming subscriptions cover private use only. Ticketed shows also come under state entertainment rules, and if you sell tickets you are supplying a service: admission to entertainment events is taxed at 18% GST when the ticket price exceeds ₹100 (5% up to ₹100 for cinema tickets under the current schedule). Sales above the registration threshold need GST registration; see the GST calculator for inclusive pricing and the GST invoice generator for group bookings by companies.
How to use the designer
- Pick a layout — classic stub, modern strip, or a two-per-row A4 sheet for bulk printing.
- Enter the event or film title, venue, screen or hall, date, showtime and rating (U/UA/A if applicable).
- Set the seat scheme — rows A–Z and seat numbers — and the price. Batch mode generates a numbered run (e.g. A1–A20) in one PDF.
- Choose a decorative barcode or a real QR that encodes the ticket number for scanning at the door with the barcode & QR scanner.
- Add your logo and terms ("No re-entry", "Doors close 10 min after showtime"), then download.
Practical tips
- Print on 250 gsm card and use a perforation between the ticket and the stub so ushers can tear it cleanly.
- If you use the real QR option, keep a simple list of issued ticket numbers; scan and tick off at the door to stop duplicates.
- For paid events, issue a payment receipt for bulk buyers and keep the ticket count for the GST return.
- Announce the show with a poster made from the same colour theme and share via the social media post generator.
- Collect feedback after the show with a QR to a form, generated with the URL QR generator.
If the screening is a paid event, the registration and invoicing basics are in GST registration online in 2026 and the document choice in Invoice vs bill vs receipt vs quotation.
